Visit from Nana and Pops

When Dax was 3 weeks, Nana and Pops came for a visit.  We were pretty boring again but were able to fit in a few outings.  We went out to a new Japanese restaurant in town for my birthday, went to church for the first time with Dax, some doctor's appointments, and a drive to see some of the covered bridges around Union county.

This kid loves his thumb and his car seat.

Visit from Grandma

My mom came to visit when Dax was 4 days old and stayed for about a week and half.  It was super awesome to have her here to help us and snuggle Dax. We were pretty boring, just hung around the house.  But Grandma got lots of baby time and gave Dax his first bath.

First bath - he kind of hated it.

Bringing Daxton Home. . .

Some highlights from Daxton's first few days home!

Two days before my due date, I had a doctor's appointment and was hoping for some good news that baby was on his way. But the doctor told me about the same thing as the last few appointments - "could be today, could be next week."   After the appointment, I went to Maddie's because we were going to take the boys to the zoo and try to walk the baby out of me but the weather was no good and Tate wasn't feeling good so we ended up just hanging out at her house.  After a while, I wasn't feeling very good though so I went home to take a nap.

At about  4:30, I woke up having contractions.  I texted Brian and told him to get everything for needed from his office for the weekend because I didn't think he would be going back.  He texted back that I had said that before and wasn't really in a rush to get  home. He got home at about 5:30 and my contractions were still pretty far apart.  He debated about going to mutual but decided to stay home just to be safe.  We ended up watching TV for a few hours while we waited.

At about 8:30, we decided to go to the hospital.  Everyone told me to eat before going in though because they don't let you eat once you get there so we stopped at a drive through on our way.  At this point, my contractions were about 2.5 - 3 minutes apart so we got some pretty funny looks at we got our food.  We ate our food in the parking lot and made it to the hospital just before 9.  I was dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced so they admitted us.

Everything went really well and really fast.  I got my epidural at about 11 (said I wanted to try without one - ha, that didn't last long.) and it was magical.  After she got the epidural in, she said I would probably feel about 3 more contractions and then they should go away and to let her know when I felt the first one.  We all sat there and waited for about 5 minutes and I felt nothing!  It had worked super fast.

At this point I was about a 6.  They told me to relax and try to get some sleep because normal progression is about a centimeter an hour so it would probably be quite a while before anything would happen. A little over an hour later though, baby was ready to go!  I started pushing at about 12:50 and Daxton Bradley was born at 1:36 am on March 26.  He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21.5 inches long.

                                                                                                                 First family selfie!

Daxton's first visitors!  These guys were SOOOO excited to see and hold Daxton.   And play with Brian.

Tate did not like that Dad was holding another baby.

Going home!!!  Or so we thought.  We got all ready to go and Brian went to pull the car around and the battery was dead.  We must have left a light on while we were scarfing down our fast food in the parking lot before we came in.  Luckily, a friend came and jumped our car so we could go home.
