New York/Canada Trip

Brian and I decided we wanted to go to Niagara Falls and Palmyra, NY over Memorial Day.  We told Brian's parents they should fly out and go with us since Jan served her mission in upstate New York and had never been back.  So they did!  Lance and Jan flew out on Friday and we left for our road trip on Saturday.

Saturday:

We woke up early and got on the road!  About lunch time we stopped for Buffalo wings in Buffalo, NY.

Then it was back on the road for the last couple of hours to Palmyra.

We made it just in time for the last session of the day at the Palmyra temple.

After the temple, we checked into our hotel and then hit the mall to do some shopping and grab some dinner.

Sunday:

On Sunday, we went to Fairport where Jan spent a lot of her time while on her mission.  We walked around the town, found her old mission home, and went to church there.

After Fairport, we headed to the Church history sites.  We went to the Hill Cumorah, the Sacred Grove, and the Book of Mormon Publication House.

At the Sacred Grove, we  ran into this guy who was the mission coordinator while Jan was a missionary.

On the way home from the Church history sites, we saw a sign that said "Mendon" so of course we had to make a detour to see it.

Monday:

On Monday, we drove to Niagara Falls.  Everyone told us the Canadian side was better, but we decided to do both so we could decide for ourselves.  The Canadian side was WAY better.

Tuesday:

On Tuesday, we packed up and drove the 5 hours back to Marysville.  We were about ready for a stop near Kirtland and were going to stop and see some of those sites, but when we got off the freeway there were signs for the Garfield Visitor's Center.  Since we did Kirtland with Lance and Jan last time they came to Ohio, we decided to do the Garfield Visitor's Center instead.  We ended up with this cute, little old lady as our tour guide and it was really fun.

Wednesday:

Lance and Jan flew back to Utah on Wednesday but not until the afternoon.  So before we went to the airport, we had lunch with Brian at work.

We had a great time with Lance and Jan during their quick trip out here.  We are getting really excited for our trip to Utah in August!
