Brian and I went to Vegas for our honeymoon. We spent the first night in Layton at the Davis Conference Center since we didn't want to have to drive far the first night. My sister, Heather, and her husband, Jay, got us an amazing suite there as a wedding present that included a breakfast buffet and it was awesome.
We left early the next morning to start our long drive, but as we were getting on the freeway, an accident happened in the lane next to us and we had to wait for the police to get there to fill out a witness report, so we got a late start. Then there was some bad weather and construction, so we ended up getting there a little later than planned. We stayed in Mesquite for the first couple of nights at a very fun little place called Highland Estates. It was kind of an old people resort and we were definitely the youngest people there, but it made it kind of fun. It had a great restaurant called "Hugo's Hilltop" that has the best tomato soup in the world! We had tons of fun in Mesquite, mostly just relaxing. We went to a movie, watched a couple of redboxes, went grocery shopping and did some cooking, and of course, celebrated New Year's Eve.
After three days in Mesquite, we headed to Vegas. We stayed in the Monte Carlo and it was so amazing. Brian found a great deal online so we ended up staying in a suite on the 29th floor. The room was probably close to twice the size of our apartment waiting back home for us. The only problem was the only thing we could really see out our window was In and Out Burger because our window was facing away from the strip, haha.
We had lots of fun in Vegas. We checked out a bunch of hotels, went out to eat a few times (our favorite place was Maggianos), walked the strip, and, the highlight of the trip, went to see Phantom of the Opera!!! Brian found an amazing student discount ($35 for $145 tickets) and surprised me with tickets when we got there. The show was amazing and we definitely recommend it to anyone going to Vegas anytime soon with a student ID.

Our hotel!
This was the pool at our hotel. It was obviously a little too cold for swimming in January, but it was an awesome pool and we were wishing we could have played some volleyball on that court.
Biggest chocolate fountain in the world. It was awesome.
Waiting for the Ballegio fountain show to start.
Brian won a few cents on this Kenny Rogers machine. haha. We spent like $7 on penny slots before we got bored and gave up.
Brian was so proud of cashing out at $1.87 when he only put in $1.

The Wedding
Brian and I got married on December 29, so we had no idea what kind of weather to plan on - well, we got rain all morning while we were at the temple and a blizzard for the rest of the day. We ended up taking all of the wedding party pictures at the luncheon because the weather was so bad outside. Other than the weather though, everything turned out great and we couldn't have asked for anything better.
Bridal/Groomal Pictures
Again, Brian and I loved our photographer and how our pictures turned out. Brian didn't think he would have fun taking pictures, but he did. It was so foggy the day we took our pictures, we ended up going about 2 hours later than planned, but it made for some cool pictures. My friend, Maddie, came with us to help, too, and she was a LIFESAVER. She even used her own coat to cover a bench so it wouldn't get my dress dirty! Thanks Maddie!!!
